The sickle is a farm tool for harvesting crops and cutting grass in rural areas. It is composed of blades and wooden handles. Some blades have small serrations. They are generally used for harvesting rice. They are also widely used in some rural areas in the south of the Yangtze River.
In most communist countries, as a symbol of peasants, it is painted on the party flag (emblem) or national flag (emblem) (exceptions are the North Korean Workers Party painted a hoe, and the Angolan flag painted a big knife).
